Derek Dubois to be guest for Rhode Island College Film Students

On Thursday 03/15/2015, Derek Dubois was invited by frequent collaborator Soren Sorensen to serve as a guest filmmaker for Film 373 - Introduction to Film Production Course.

The class, featuring upper-level film undergraduates, screened three of Derek's films: Fallout (2012), Lucid (2013), and Sinners (2014) before venturing into a lively discussion on a range of topics from low-budget film-making to feminist film theory.

This was an exciting opportunity to highlight the works of this local filmmaker while also allowing for a sharing of advice on DIY methodologies.

Cinema Crazed Review of FALLOUT

The great folks over at Cinema Crazed have reviewed Fallout, noting:

“Fallout” is a wonderful character study and depiction of the family dynamic, and how it breaks down like every social structure once civilization has drawn to a close. “Fallout” become[s] a horrific, and tense experience. [The film] is a truly remarkable short film and I look forward to more from director Derek Dubois and the cast in the future.

Fallout - Film Threat Review

The review site Film Threat has recently published a write-up of Fallout. The critic specifically calls out the role of sound design and cinematography and notes:

Fallout never seeks to explain away its mystery, only to find the emotions in the scenario and run them through their paces. The result is an overall uneasiness and confusion, but one that is acceptable and fitting concerning the stressful experience.

Fallout

Fallout is the story of two brothers, struggling for their lives, who are holed up in an underground shelter as unseen forces close around them.

Currently, we're hard at work in the pre-production stage. The film has been written, cast, crew assembled, the set is under construction and we plan to roll film towards the end of April.

This project will cost a significant amount of money to get off the ground.  We're currently looking to establish a "Kickstarter" page which will allow for donations to be made towards our new film.  This will allow us to invest in the technology, clear song rights, and amass the necessary resources to tackle this film as professionally as possible.

Our ultimate goal with Fallout is to take the festival world by storm.  It will be a long while before this film makes it's debut online.  However, your pledge can assist us in completeing it soon and will guarantee your chance to see it.
